International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach on Friday, before the opening ceremony of the 9th Olympic Games. Asian Winter Games in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang province, awarded a production accreditation to the international team of China Media Group (CMG) to produce the broadcast signal for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
Bach praised CMG's contribution to Olympic broadcasting and highlighted the high quality of service provided to global broadcasters and media organisations. He highlighted CMG's leadership in sports broadcasting and its important role in promoting the Olympic spirit.
Looking back at CMG's collaboration, Bach mentioned its partnership with the IOC on major events including the Tokyo 2020, Beijing 2022 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He expressed his expectation that CMG will use innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, immersive 3D sound and 8K ultra high definition to enhance the Olympic broadcast and offer viewers a whole new experience.
At the ceremony, CMG President Shen Haixiong expressed his honour to accept the invitation from Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS). He confirmed that CMG will make history as the international broadcast signal producer for figure skating and short track speed skating at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, the first time CMG will assume such a responsibility. It will also provide technical support for the OBS.
