Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China will host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in 2026. This prestigious meeting will be held in China for the third time since APEC was established in 1989.
During this year's 31st APEC Summit in Lima, Peru, President Xi stressed the importance of regional cooperation and solidarity in the face of global challenges such as geopolitical tensions, unilateralism and protectionism. "We look forward to working with all parties to deepen cooperation in the Asia-Pacific for the benefit of the people of the region," he said.
President Xi also called for the removal of barriers to the free flow of trade, investment, technology and services, and proposed green innovation as a key catalyst for regional growth. China plans to launch a global initiative for cross-border data flow and strengthen cooperation in digital technology and sustainable development.
Xi stressed that China's further development will bring new opportunities for the region and the world. "We invite all parties to continue to participate in the rapid development of China's economy and jointly pursue peaceful development and common prosperity," he said.
