VAUX-DE-CERNAY - From the abbey of Vaux-de-Cernay near Paris, seven leading Western economic powers called Friday for „an immediate halt to attacks against civilians and infrastructure“ in the Middle East. The United Nations warned of an impending humanitarian catastrophe.
In the midst of the ongoing war in the Middle East, the foreign ministers of the G7 (Group of Seven leading economic powers) met for two days at the Vaux-de-Cernay Abbey near Paris. In a joint statement, the seven member states - Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States - called for an „immediate halt to attacks against civilians and infrastructure“ in Iran. They also „reaffirmed the absolute necessity of the permanent restoration of free and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz“.
