BRNO - 22 November 2025. In the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Brno today was heard Symphony Austerlitz 1805. A work reminiscent of the Battle of Austerlitz, composed by Zdeněk Kluka from the rock band Progres 2, ...dozens of people listened to it, it was packed. Since the Battle of Austerlitz, in which French Emperor Napoleon defeated the Russo-Austrian army, expires in early December 220 years.
A concert project was performed in the cathedral In Nomine. The audience was treated to a musical experience performed by a fifty-member symphony orchestra Czech Virtuosi. The highlight of the evening was the introduction of Symphony Austerlitz 1805. According to the organizers, the boy's symphony is a unique musical achievement, which connects a deep emotional experience with the historical memory of the Battle of Austerlitz, one of the of the most important events in European history. „I wanted to create a work that would not only commemorate the battle, but also reflect on the value of human life and the meaning of sacrifice. Music has the power to open hearts and minds,“ said Kluka, who is known as the drummer of the Brno band Progres 2.
The author of the theme and libretto is Ivan Vystrčil, who was also the writer, producer and director of the whole evening. The cathedral organ was also part of the musical piece, which was played by Petr Kolar, organ teacher at Brno Conservatory and JAMU. Kolař is one of the most important Czech organ artists, performs on national and international stages and premiered many works by Brno composers. The event took place during the program Napoleon in Brno to commemorate the visit of the French Emperor Napoleon, who visited Brno in 1805 shortly before the Battle of Austerlitz. The programme in Brno was not the only, which recalled the Napoleonic period, for example in Bučovice in the Vyškov region, the events Echoes Napoleonic Wars.
