NOVÉ MĚSTO NA MORAVĚ (Žďár region) - Czech biathlete Michal Krčmář considers the third place from the mixed relay at the home World Cup in Nové Město na Moravě as one of the strongest moments of his career. As he said in an interview with journalists after the race, the bronze result in Vysočina is worth more to him than some medals from the World Championships. This is mainly due to the emotions connected with the stormy atmosphere of the Vysočina Arena and the dramatic course of the race.
Krčmář was part of the Czech mixed relay team, which was fighting for the podium until the last metres. The final standings were decided by a thrilling finish in which the Czech representative fought with the American Maxim Germain. According to Krčmar, it was this duel and the reaction of the crowded stands that made the bronze an exceptional experience. „You don't experience such a backdrop every day. It was very emotional and strong,“ he said.
The race also had a personal dimension for the experienced biathlete. He celebrated his 35th birthday on Friday and marked the third place as a symbolic additional gift. He was even more happy to share his success directly on the podium with his family. He was accompanied by his son Viktor and daughter Tamara at the ceremony, which was one of the most touching moments of his career.
The World Cup in Nové Město na Moravě is traditionally one of the most visited stops of the series and the home fans have once again created an atmosphere that is appreciated not only by the Czech competitors but also by the foreign representatives. For Michal Krčmar, however, this year's edition will remain special thanks to the combination of sporting success, family joy and a strong experience of the home track.
