Dear brothers and sisters, have a good Sunday!
Today, on the Second Sunday of Lent, the Gospel speaks to us about the transfiguration of Jesus (Luke 9:28-36). After ascending the mountain with Peter, James and John, Jesus immerses himself in prayer and shines with light. In this way he shows the disciples what lies behind the gestures he makes among them: it is the light of his infinite love.
I share these thoughts with you as I go through a period of trial and I join many sick brothers and sisters: at this moment as fragile as I am. Our flesh is weak, but even so, nothing prevents us from loving, praying, giving, being for one another in faith, bright signs of hope. How many lights shine in this sense in hospitals and places of care! How much loving care illuminates rooms, corridors, surgeries, places where the most humble services are performed! Therefore, today I would like to invite you to join me in praising God, who never leaves us and who, in times of sorrow, places beside us people who reflect the ray of his love.
Pope at Gemelli Hospital: stable condition and gradual improvement thanks to treatment
Thank you all for your prayers and thank you to those who care for me with such dedication. I know that many children are praying for me; some of them have come here today to the Gemelli Hospital as a sign of closeness. Thank you, dear children! The Pope loves you and is still waiting to meet you.
Let us continue to pray for peace, especially in war-torn countries: war-torn Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo.
And let us pray for the Church, which is called to apply in concrete decisions the discernment made at the recent Synodal Assembly. Thank you to the General Secretariat of the Synod who will accompany the local churches in this effort over the next three years.
May Our Lady protect us and help us to be, like her, bearers of Christ's light and peace.
