PRAGUE - Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov will visit Prague today to meet his Czech counterpart, Defence Minister Jana Černochová. The main topics of the meeting will be the strengthening of defence cooperation between the Czech Republic and Ukraine and the possibilities of further support for Ukraine in its efforts to counter Russian aggression.
The meeting is a follow-up to the recent joint meeting of the Czech and Ukrainian governments that took place in Prague last July. The main topics then were defence cooperation, migration, energy and support for Czech exports in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the Czech Republic has provided significant military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Cooperation in the field of defence industry includes, for example, the production of BREN 2 rifles in Ukraine on the basis of a licence agreement with a Czech arms factory.
The visit of the Ukrainian Defence Minister to Prague is another step in the deepening of cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence and security. The talks are expected to further strengthen the partnership and contribute to joint efforts to meet the current security challenges.
