Chinese President Xi Jinping said during his meeting with US President Joe Biden in Lima on November 16 that China and the US should continue to explore the right way for the two superpowers to relate well with each other.
Xi expressed his pleasure at meeting Biden again and stressed that relations between the two countries have undergone various challenges over the past four years, but have remained stable under the leadership of the two presidents and have yielded fruitful cooperation. According to Xie, the history of Sino-US relations over the past 45 years has proved that if the two countries view each other as partners and friends, they can make significant progress. Conversely, if they view each other as rivals, relations will deteriorate.
Xi also said that at a time of global challenges, such as frequent conflicts and complex problems, competition between major powers should not be the guiding principle. "Only solidarity and cooperation can help humanity overcome the current problems," he said.
According to Xie, openness and sharing should be the key to progress, not breaking away or disrupting supply chains. He also stressed that stable and healthy relations between China and the US are crucial not only for the two countries but also for the whole human society.
Xi concluded by affirming that China is ready to continue dialogue, expand cooperation and resolve differences to ensure a stable transition of Sino-US relations for the benefit of the two nations.
