The 2024 Silk Road Rediscovery Tour kicked off in Beijing on 21 October, when major international influencers from Albania, Brazil, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, the USA and Uzbekistan descended on the Chinese capital. The theme of the event, "Explore a Modernised City Full of Opportunities", aimed to showcase Beijing's unique combination of historical heritage and modern progress.
Since its inception in 2016, the Silk Road Rediscovery Tour is now in its tenth year and so far 125 influencers from 51 countries involved in the Belt and Road initiative have participated. In his speech, Mukhammad Obidov, editor-in-chief of Uzbekistan's National News Agency, highlighted the growing interest of Uzbeks in China and proposed the formation of an alliance of journalists from Central Asia and China.
Kanat Sakhariyanov, director of Kazakhstan's Atameken TV, highlighted Beijing's harmonious blend of history and modernity. Lucas Eleuterio Fernandes, a Brazilian journalist and influencer, expressed his astonishment at the transformation of China, which he first visited 14 years ago, and urged others to visit the country and experience its extraordinary development.
Running from 21 to 25 October, this edition of the Silk Road Rediscovery Tour includes visits to cultural sites such as the Palace Museum, the Olympic Tower and Shougang Park, offering participants a deep insight into Beijing's dynamic urban environment.
