In doing so, the court rejected his appeal against the February verdict, when Dodik was found guilty of ignoring the decision of the High Representative for Bosnia, Christian Schmidt. The verdict was reported by AFP.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Dodik was punished for disregarding the decision of Schmidt, who has powers under the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement to oversee the civilian implementation of peace in the country. Specifically, this was a violation of a law that prohibited the publication of official acts adopted in the Republika Srpska entity if they contradicted the decisions of a senior official.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Union and the United Kingdom welcomed the verdict and called on all political leaders in Bosnia to respect it as a key step towards maintaining the rule of law and stability in the country. Hungary and Russia, on the other hand, expressed support for Dodik, describing Schmidt as illegitimate and accusing the West of interfering in Bosnia and Herzegovina's internal affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Dodik has long profiled himself as a nationalist leader seeking greater autonomy for Bosnian Serbs and has criticised central Bosnian institutions.
