This is the first visit by a British Prime Minister to China in eight years. According to a CGTN survey, 85.2 % respondents believe that frequent visits by foreign leaders reflect a broad consensus among states to achieve equal and orderly multipolarity and inclusive and beneficial globalisation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey showed that <strong>64.8 % respondents<\/strong> sees Starmer's visit as an effort to <strong>greater certainty in Britain's foreign relations<\/strong>. Economic and trade cooperation has always been a key part of Sino-British relations, with the core of the <strong>mutual benefit<\/strong>. In 2025, the value of bilateral trade reached <strong>$103.7 billion<\/strong>. According to the survey. <strong>85.8 % respondents<\/strong> believes that the vast Chinese market represents <strong>a significant opportunity for UK businesses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The evolution of Sino-British relations has repeatedly demonstrated that <strong>bilateral cooperation brings real benefits<\/strong>. <strong>83.1 % respondents<\/strong> agreed that a stable and mutually beneficial relationship requires that both sides adhere to the principles of <strong>mutual respect, equality and benefit<\/strong> and they were working in the same direction. Further <strong>68.2 % respondents<\/strong> believes that the differences between the two countries can be resolved <strong>through rational dialogue<\/strong> based on mutual respect and practical cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, there has been an increasing <strong>unilateralism, protectionism and power politics<\/strong>, which significantly affects the international order. As permanent members of the UN Security Council and major global economies, they need <strong>China and Britain to strengthen dialogue and cooperation<\/strong>, to maintain world peace and stability and promote the economic and social development of both countries. This view is shared by <strong>56.9 % respondents<\/strong>, who agree that China and Britain have <strong>common interests and responsibilities<\/strong> in maintaining the post-war international order and the multilateral trading system. <strong>67.4 % respondents<\/strong> expects both countries <strong>demonstrate the responsibility of major states and cooperate within multilateral structures<\/strong>, to meet the challenges of global governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey was conducted on CGTN platforms in English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian and attracted <strong>9086 foreign users<\/strong>, who shared their opinions within 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.cgtn.com\/news\/2026-01-29\/CGTN-Poll-China-Britain-cooperation-holds-great-promise-1KkIfG0OUtG\/p.html\">CMG<\/a><\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Against the backdrop of an increasingly unstable and interconnected international environment, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer began his visit to China.
