The United States is seeking a friendly takeover of Cuba, President Donald Trump told reporters on the South Lawn outside the White House before leaving for a working trip to Texas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201eThe Cuban government is negotiating with us. They are in great difficulty  but they are negotiating with us and maybe there will be a friendly takeover,\u201c the US leader said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>On 29 January, the United States signed an executive order allowing Washington to impose tariffs on goods from countries supplying oil to Cuba. The document also declared a state of emergency because of the alleged threat from Cuba. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla strongly condemned these measures, saying that they could not only force Cuba into a \u201ecomplete blockade of energy supplies\u201c but also \u201eviolate all the principles of international trade\u201c and create \u201eextremely difficult living conditions\u201c for the Cuban people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Washington said it was in talks with Havana about the situation surrounding the US energy blockade and expressed hope that the two sides were close to reaching an agreement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tass.com\/world\/2093055\" title=\"\">TASS<\/a>\/gnews.cz-jav<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON, 27 February.
