The European Anti-Fraud Office said it is investigating Peter Mandelson, the former British ambassador to the United States, in connection with the Epstein case at the request of the European Commission. Mandelson served as European Commissioner for Trade from 2004 to 2008.
Recently released documents reveal that Mandelson provided Epstein with preliminary information on the €500 billion rescue package in 2010.
Following the release of more than three million pages of documents related to the Epstein case by the US Justice Department in late January, British circles expressed „shock“ at the close relationship between Mandelson and Epstein. Earlier this month, British police launched an investigation into Mandelson, accusing him of misconduct during his time in public office, including the disclosure of market-sensitive information.
