More than 200 works by masters of traditional Chinese art and rare artefacts from Italian collections come face to face in an exhibition in Rome celebrating 55 years of diplomatic relations between China and Italy - a cultural bridge between civilisations in the making.
The opening ceremony took place on 25 June with the participation of leading representatives of politics, art and media from both countries. The exhibition, led by Professor Chang Shana of the Academy of Fine Arts at Tsinghua University, features works by more than 100 contemporary Chinese calligraphers, painters, masters of traditional crafts and treasures from the Museum of Civilizations in Italy.
Visitors can look forward to examples of Chinese calligraphy, embroidery, jadel, brocades and paper cut-outs, complemented by Italian exhibits including ceramics, bronze artefacts and traditional clothing.
CMG President Shen Haixiong emphasized in his speech that art is more than just aesthetics - it is a bridge between the past and the present, between East and West. "This exhibition is the philosophy of time in practice," he said.
Italian Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara praised the deep ties in the fields of culture, education, sport and film. He said the exhibition had reawakened admiration and respect between nations that share a rich cultural heritage.
The exhibition in Rome is a symbol of the growing cultural partnership between China and Italy - a celebration of art that brings nations together.
