On the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory in World War II, CGTN host Mike Walter visited the former headquarters of the infamous Japanese Unit 731 in the Chinese suburb of Harbin. It was here that biological warfare and inhumane human experimentation was planned and carried out.
Unit 731 became a symbol of the darkest war crimes when it systematically conducted brutal experiments on humans during the war to develop biological weapons. An exhibition on site today shows fading and often incomplete evidence, including shocking documents labelled 'special transfer', which continue to bear witness to these inhumane atrocities more than eighty years later.
