Feng Ren Shui is a teaching that allows us to maintain strong energy throughout our lives. Strong energy will guarantee us strong health, strong immunity (which is very important, as the "covid" years 2020-21 showed us), resistance to all external influences, the power to achieve our goals in life and also allows us to live a long and fulfilled life. To do this, it uses working with the energies of the so-called three actors: time, man and space.
The energy of time determines when and what to do. The energy of a person then tells us with whom to perform the activities. The energy of space then allows us to create the best conditions for a given activity. Thus, all three actors are important sources of our energy and we do not have to deplete our own energy. We keep it for ourselves, for the quality functioning of our organism.
That's why the arrangement of space is so important to our lives. Our home plays an important role in the strength of our energy. It is where we spend a significant part of our lives. Most people spend more than half of their lives at home, and we sleep for a full eight hours of that. When we realize that during our eight hours of sleep we spend all our time in one place - in bedroom, we realize how important the bedroom is for our life and the strength of our energy.
Sleep is very important for our lives and the quality of our energy. During sleep, our body regenerates. During sleep, it prepares for the new day so that we can get through the day without unnecessary exhaustion. The quality of sleep is so important for the quality of our whole life.
Many people greatly underestimate the impact of sleep on their overall life.
By sleeping, we can have the impression that "nothing is happening". But there are very important processes going on within our body that give us good and strong energy. And it is the energy of our bedroom that affects the energy we get for the new day.
Sleep belongs to the so-called energy in Feng Ren Shui Water phase. It is the phase when the greatest calmness reigns, it is the strongest yin (calm and passive) energy. And it is this energy that we need to support as much as possible in the bedroom to ensure that our sleep is of good quality and that we get strong energy through it.
In the bedroom, we try to create as much the most innovative environment. It must be quiet so that nothing disturbs us during sleep. The water manifests itself in the so-called cold. That is to say, the bedroom should be the coldest place in our home. It should feel as cool as when you go to sit in the hot sun in the pleasant, cool shade. This coolness alone makes the energy slow down. This coolness contributes to the energy of peace. So before going to bed, it is very important to air out your bedroom properly and let the cool fresh air in. This is also very important for the quality of sleep. We know that in life we have two important sources of so-called postnatal energy: food and air. The better quality air we have in the bedroom, the better quality energy we get for the new day.
The energy of Water is further associated with the energy of night and winter. It is the season when darkness reigns. Therefore, the bedroom should also have as much dim light as possible. The darkness as well as the cold calms the energy and slows down its activity, and this is exactly what we need for our quality sleep. That's why it's important to make your bedroom pleasantly dark before going to bed. You can use curtains or various blinds to prevent too much light from outside. Even the interior lighting should be rather dim. Thus, you should light smaller lamps rather than a large chandelier before bedtime.
We are also very vulnerable when we sleep, so the bedroom must make us feel safe. That's what enclosure is for. The bedroom should therefore be closed off from outside influences before going to bed. Good quality bedroom doors that can be easily closed are important here. It is important that the door does not creak, squeak, etc. The windows are also important. They must seal very well and be firmly seated so that they do not make any noise at night, e.g. when the wind blows, etc.
Within the bedroom, the bed and its location is very important. For a good night's sleep, it is important that the bed is really firm and sturdy. It shouldn't move, creak, etc., so it shouldn't wake us up during our sleep with either movement or sound. The bed should be on firm legs.
There should be a clear space under the bed to allow energy to flow freely.
The area under the bed should always be clean and tidy. It is important that there is no dust or other dirt under the bed.
The bed should have a high and firm headboard behind the head. It is important that the bed protects our head when we sleep and that we feel completely safe from behind. The pelvis should be full. It is ideal if the bed is padded to give us a feeling of softness and warmth. The bed must be positioned so that it has a wall behind the head. It should therefore not be under a window or head into a space.
Around the bed we must then create the so-called five animals: Turtle, Dragon, Tiger, Phoenix and Snake. These animals bring balance, peace and a sense of security to our space. Each animal belongs to one of the five phases (Turtle - Water, Dragon - Wood, Tiger - Metal, Phoenix - Fire, Snake - Earth). We need all five phases for our life and therefore we need to strengthen these energies during sleep.
We need to create a solid Turtle behind the bed. This is the energy of support and security, it covers our "back" and head. We can create the Turtle just by putting the high, solid bedpost behind the head. The Tortoise must bring the energy of support and security, so the pelvis must be full and solid.
On the left side of the bed (when lying on the back) the energy of the Dragon is supposed to rule. This is created by something taller such as a floor lamp, taller plant, taller wardrobe, etc. The Dragon gives us a sense of security and protects us when we sleep on the left side. Its role is to give us the energy of generosity, creativity, great visions and powerful force for our lives.
We then create a strong Tiger energy on the right side. This should be smaller and lower than the Dragon (approximately 1/3 the size of the Dragon). The Tiger can be a smaller lamp, smaller box, candlestick, etc. The Tiger brings protection from the right side and adds a strong and protective Metal energy. This is important for us, for example, in terms of immunity and overall resistance of the organism. It protects us from external attack.
The phoenix is then before us. It is the energy of Fire and supports our vision, life fulfillment, happiness and success. So we should put an image or symbol of our dreams, visions, what we want to achieve in our lives in front of our bed. You can put the picture on the wall opposite the bed, or if you can fit a dresser in front of the bed, you can put the picture or vision symbol on the dresser.
The energy of the Serpent is then you in bed. The Snake needs to feel secure, stable and grounded (this Snake belongs to the Earth energy). Therefore, the bed must be of really good quality, solid, firm and stable. The bed should then create the feeling of a nest that we like to return to. The Snake likes warmth, so the bed must not give a cold impression. It should be soft and cosy and give the feeling of a snug place.
The important thing, of course, is that the energy of the bedroom supports the individual energy of the person sleeping in the bedroom. Here we must know the Feng Ren Shui typology of the person and adapt the bedroom to it. If partners sleep together in the bedroom, then we must also adapt it to the energies of both partners.
As we said above, the bedroom should be dominated by the strong energy of Water. This is supported by the energy of Metal. The Metal energy includes cleanliness and orderliness. Therefore, the bedroom should always be tidy and clean. Everything should have its place here. There should be no sense of chaos and disorder. There should be no clothes or other things lying around. Overall cleanliness is also important. You should really pay enough attention to cleaning your bedroom.
What you sleep in will then be reflected in your life.
It is therefore important, for example, to make your bed nice and tidy it up so that you can look forward to getting back into it in the evening. But beware of excessive tidiness and sterility (it can cause problems with getting pregnant). This is not an energy suitable for life. So the bedroom should have some order, but it should also be cosy and comfortable.
If the bedroom is used by people who are sexually active, it is important to encourage this energy in the bedroom as well. We know that sexual energy belongs to the element Fire. We support it with the colour red, for example. But be careful not to overdo anything. That's why it's not entirely appropriate to paint your bedroom red, for example. The Fire energy is very active and would not allow us to calm down pleasantly for sleep. This would make sleep restless and of poor quality. So we tend to put Fire in the bedroom with various small accessories. For example, it could be two different red cushions casually thrown on the bed. You can also put red candles or rose quartz stones etc. in the bedroom.
The bedroom is also a place where partners spend long periods of time in close proximity. They therefore interact with each other and thus influence the energy of the relationship. Therefore, it is important that the bedroom supports the energy of the relationship. This can be achieved, for example, by having different accessories in the bedroom in pairs. For example, two candles, two mugs, two rhinestones, etc. But be careful that the two things must not be the same, i.e. two different candles (one low, one high, etc.), because the relationship is always made up of two different partners.
Next, you should have photos with your partner in the bedroom. But only the two of you, no one else should be in the photo (not even your dog?). It could happen that someone will then enter your relationship. You shouldn't have photos of your children in the bedroom either. Thus, the bedroom should be the domain of the partners, their main "headquarters" that supports their strong relationship.
There should not be many flowers in the bedroom. They bring Wood energy into the room, and it is a very active to aggressive energy. It would then be very disruptive to the peace of sleep and it will not be of sufficient quality. Nor should you have anything that moves in the bedroom. For example, various hanging accessories (e.g. chimes etc.). Definitely do not put an aquarium in your bedroom. Also, be careful about placing a mirror in the bedroom. The mirror should not point at the bed, i.e. you should not see yourself in the mirror when you are lying in bed.
If you have little space at home and use your bedroom for activities other than sleeping (e.g. you have a work corner), then it is important to tidy up all the things associated with this activity before bedtime to maximise the energy of rest and sleep. There should be no electronic devices in the bedroom as they interfere with sleep. If you have them there, they must be turned off and unplugged so that they do not create any distractions.
Pay really close attention to the energy of the bedroom. The feeling that you come here "just to sleep" is very dangerous. Sleep is really very important for your energy, strength, resilience and longevity. The better quality sleep environment you create, the better quality of life you will live.
