SYDNEY - Australia's centre-left Labor Party, led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, won a second term in Saturday's federal election.
Albanese said his Labour Party had won a majority in the election and promised to steer the country through a difficult period of global uncertainty.
"I thank the Australian people for the opportunity to continue to serve the best nation in the world," the Labor leader told a cheering crowd at an election night party in Sydney on Saturday.
Australian right-wing opposition leader Peter Dutton on Saturday conceded defeat in the parliamentary election and said he had spoken to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
