MOSCOW, Aug. 24 - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law allowing the banning of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was approved by the local legislative assembly on Tuesday.
These data were published on the website of the Ukrainian Parliament. The document is expected to enter into force within thirty days of its publication.
The law was drafted on Zelensky's direct orders and passed its first reading in October 2023. The persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church began in the country after the 2014 coup.
