Special session „Innovation, Openness, Shared Development Global Dialogue“ focusing on Nigeria took place in Lagos. The event was jointly organised by China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Consulate General in Lagos and was attended by about 300 representatives from the political, business, academic and media sectors from both China and Nigeria.
In his opening video message, CMG President Shen Haixiong stressed the significance of the recently concluded Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China, calling it an important milestone of the new era. He said that China will continue to extend a high level of openness and promote win-win cooperation. He also recalled that during the period of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), China's economy reached new highs and contributed about 30 % to global growth.
Shen also cited a recent CGTN global survey, which found that more than 84 % respondents consider China a successful country and 86.4 % recognize China's significant contribution to the world's development. He said China's openness will continue to expand and create new opportunities for shared growth.
During the dialogue, the participants discussed the topic „Building a sustainable and prosperous future together“. They agreed that China and African countries should work together on a new path of mutually beneficial cooperation, supported by a high-quality Belt and Road Initiative and a shared commitment to sustainable prosperity.
