BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) -- The seventh session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, opened in Beijing on Tuesday, focusing on building a high-level socialist market economy system. Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Vice Premier, was invited to the meeting and delivered a report.
Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the opening session.
Wang urged the national political advisers to conduct in-depth consultations and put forward proposals to build a high-level socialist market economy system and contribute wisdom and strength to the progress of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through China's modernization.
In delivering the report, Ding stressed efforts to promote state-owned enterprises and state-owned enterprises to strengthen, improve and enlarge, and to ensure a healthy environment and more opportunities for the non-public sector.
It is important to speed up the development of the single national market, improve basic market economic systems such as property rights protection, market access, fair competition and social credit, and build a high-level market system, he said.
He called for the full use of strategic guidance in national development plans and the strengthening of coordination between fiscal and monetary policies to promote sustained and sound economic development.
"We will take greater initiative to conform to high-standard international economic and trade rules, continuously expand institutional opening-up and promote new advantages in global economic cooperation and competition," Ding said.
Policy advisors heard reports on a range of topics, including the transformation and modernisation of traditional manufacturing sectors, the construction of water infrastructure for improved production capacity in agriculture, and the green and low-carbon transformation of industries.
The session will last two and a half days. Political advisors will lead group discussions on seven topics.
