Honor has announced that its humanoid robot, Lightning, completed a distance of 100 meters in 9.32 seconds during a test run. This performance surpasses the time of 9.58 seconds set by Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt in 2009. In addition to developing electronics, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor is increasingly focusing on artificial intelligence and humanoid robots. One result of this development is the Lightning robot, which, according to the company, achieved a time of 9.32 seconds on a 100-meter track during testing.

During the run, the robot was designed to reach a maximum speed of 14.5 meters per second, or approximately 52 kilometers per hour. If the manufacturer's data is correct, this represents an extraordinary performance in the category of humanoid robots, whose design must address not only speed but also stability, coordination of movements, and energy consumption.

Lightning's time of 9.32 seconds is therefore 0.26 seconds faster than Bolt's world record. However, this comparison should be understood primarily as a technological demonstration. The performance of a humanoid robot and a human athlete takes place under different conditions and is subject to different rules. Furthermore, the robot is not a participant in an athletic competition, so its performance cannot be considered a new world record in human athletics. Nevertheless, the test shows how quickly the capabilities of modern humanoid robots are advancing. Developers are no longer solely focused on their ability to walk, manipulate objects, or communicate with people. Increasing attention is also being paid to dynamic movement, speed, and the ability of robots to independently maintain balance at high speeds.

China has become one of the main centers for the development of humanoid robotics in recent years. Manufacturers and technology companies here are working on robots designed for industry, logistics, services, and other areas. Lightning fits into this broader trend, in which humanoid machines are gradually moving from laboratory tests to practical applications. The performance of the Honor robot also shows that the race for the most advanced humanoid robots is increasingly shifting away from mere appearance and the ability to mimic human movements towards measurable technical parameters. In this case, the 100-meter speed became an impressive demonstration of the possibilities of modern robotics.
