In May 2026, a new chapter began for our international news website gnews.cz, which made its mark on the history of international news and in the hearts of readers within its very first hours. The launch of the new system is not merely a technical change or an upgrade of the website. It marks a symbolic entry into a new era of fast, modern, and truly international news reporting at a high professional level, where information, events, analysis, and the trust of loyal readers from literally all over the world come together.
And it was the readers who demonstrated their power—and, above all, their interest—in no uncertain terms: within the first 24 hours of launching our new system, new graphics, and new features, General News recorded an incredible 1.687 million views. And the following day, the 24-hour readership was even higher, at 1.702 million views. This extraordinary result is no coincidence. It proves that the public is looking for a media outlet that can deliver objectivity, news without chaos or artificial hysteria, and with an emphasis on reader comfort as well as a balanced international perspective on world events. In a short time, General News has become a symbol for many people of a new generation of digital journalism that is not afraid of innovation, modern technologies, or an open perspective on global events. What we launched on May 19 is by no means the final goal. It is the beginning of the next stage of our journey. “Our goal, following the example of the United States, is to bring more diversity of opinion and a wider range of perspectives to the Czech media landscape. Censorship that allows only one official viewpoint and a dogmatic approach to it, where questioning basic and logical questions is considered a crime, is very dangerous in the long run – this has been empirically proven by totalitarian regimes and religious institutions. This is a proven practice of totalitarian regimes to suppress any opposition and other views deemed "dangerous" to the regime. Unfortunately, this is happening to some extent in Europe.
After studying in Taiwan and gaining experience with the American style of education, I believe that everyone should be exposed to a variety of information and ideologies in order to have a better understanding of different cultures and paradigms in other parts of the world. People should not function solely within a virtual bubble created by a few Western propagandists. Because without exposure to different viewpoints and perspectives on the world, anyone can be easily manipulated. And the result of mass media manipulation is often war. Every ideology has some truth, and mutual understanding allows for peace.”
