His name is Jiang Dong and he is a freight train driver for China Railway. He is the first engineer to drive trains on the Eurasian Connection (China Railway Express) route from Chongqing to Dazhou in Sichuan Province, which is 220 kilometres long.
He works with a younger colleague, the driver Xiao Luo, who is of the post-90 generation, and together they are preparing for the rigorous evaluation associated with the operation of these trains.
Eurasian connections departing from Chinese Chongqing, passing through 12 countries and more than 30 cities to finally arrive in the German Duisburg.
These trains carry new energy cars from the car plant in Chongqing as well as local specialties like the spicy hot pot base. They are a living testament to the flourishing trade between Europe and China and the transition from the fossil fuel era to the new energy age.
Jiang Dong has a great passion for the work of a railway engineer - he finds train driving a very interesting job. At the same time, he has to cope with a certain monotony and a feeling of low social esteem for the profession.
