On Monday 28 October, the 68th edition of the prestigious Ballon d'Or awards ceremony took place at the grandiose Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
The Ballon d'Or, awarded annually by France Football since 1956, is the most important award a footballer can receive for his outstanding achievements and exceptional talent.
This year, for the first time, the awards were organised by Groupe Amaury, owner of France Football and L'Équipe, together with UEFA.
The list of prizes awarded during the ceremony included the Ballon d'Or for men and women, the Johan Cruyff Trophy for men and women (best coach of the year), the Kopa Trophy (best young player under 21), the Yashin Trophy (best goalkeeper), the Gerd Müller Trophy (top scorer), the Club of the Year for men and women and the Sócrates Award (solidarity event).
Golden Ball for men, selected by a jury of football journalists representing the top 100 countries in the FIFA Men's Rankings, was awarded Rodri (Spain, Manchester City).
Golden Ball for women, chosen by a jury of football journalists representing the top 50 countries in the FIFA Women's Rankings, was awarded to Aitana Bonmati (Spain, Barcelona).
Kopa Trophy for the best young player under 21, voted for by former Ballon d'Or winners for men, was awarded to Lamine Yamal (Spain, Barcelona).
Yashin Trophywhich is awarded to the best goalkeeper, chosen by the same jury as the Ballon d'Or for men, was awarded to Emiliano Martínez (Argentina, Aston Villa).
Gerd Müller Trophy, which honours the top scorer at club and national level, was awarded to Harry Kane (England, Bayern Munich) and Kylian Mbappé (France, Paris Saint-Germain / Real Madrid).
Trophy for the best men's club of the yearselected by the same jury as the Golden Ball for men, was awarded to Real Madrid CF.
Trophy for Women's Club of the Yearchosen by the same jury as the Women's Golden Ball, was awarded to FC Barcelona.
Johan Cruyff Men's Trophy, which is awarded to the best coach at club and national level and was chosen by the same jury as the Golden Ball for men, was awarded to Carlo Ancelotti (Italy, Real Madrid).
Johan Cruyff Women's Trophy, which is awarded to the best coach at club and national level and is chosen by the same jury as the Golden Ball for women, was awarded to Emma Hayes (England, Chelsea/USA national team).
Sócrates Award L'Équipe and Peace and Sport, which recognises solidarity actions or social causes carried out by a committed champion, has been awarded Jennifer Hermosa (Spain, Tigres).
