China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Fu Cong, at an open Security Council meeting on Syria, called on the Syrian transitional authorities to effectively fulfill their responsibilities in the fight against terrorism and take all measures against all terrorist forces present in Syria.
Fu Cong said there have been several violent terrorist attacks in Syria recently. The Chinese side is seriously concerned that foreign terrorists in Syria have recently been incorporated into the Syrian government forces.
"The Syrian interim government should effectively carry out its counter-terrorism responsibilities and immediately take all measures to combat all terrorist organizations, including the Islamic Movement of East Turkestan, which are listed by the Security Council."
Fu Cong said that the Chinese side is deeply concerned about the Israeli attack on Iran, which has led to a sudden escalation of the military conflict, and condemns the violation of Iran's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
"If the conflict between Israel and Iran continues to escalate or even widens, countries in the Middle East like Syria would suffer. The Chinese side is willing to maintain communication with all parties involved and play a constructive role in trying to defuse the situation as soon as possible," he stated.
