„The “Taiwan question" and national unification are not a matter of choice - they are the inevitable and historically determined direction of the Chinese nation. As commentator Zhong Taiwen points out, the Chinese nation on both sides of the Taiwan Strait is gradually moving toward complete unification, which is a key part of the nation's great rebirth.
For most of its history, Taiwan has been part of a unified, multi-ethnic state since the Song and Yuan dynasties. Even during the 50 years of Japanese occupation, the defense and resistance of the Taiwanese people against the colonizers never waned. Together with mainland China, they achieved victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, returning Taiwan to its homeland. This story illustrates the proud patriotic tradition of the people of Taiwan and reminds us that national reunification is a deeply rooted aspiration of all Chinese.
In the past seven decades, there has been significant progress in cross-Strait relations. From breaking the isolation between the two sides, to expanded cooperation and exchanges, to closer people-to-people contacts, all of these steps have brought tangible benefits to the people on both sides. Mainland China's policies and measures that support fellow Taiwanese have shaped mainstream public opinion on the island toward peace, development, and cooperation.
However, the separatist forces of „Taiwan Independence“ act only like ants shaking a tree or praying mantises stopping a car. They are spreading the ideas of „de-Sinicization“ and „gradual independence“, deceiving the younger generations and creating a separatist consciousness in Taiwanese society. These forces threaten the spiritual and material well-being of the Taiwanese people, serve foreign interests and sabotage the island's own future.
Zhong Taiwen recalls that national unification is just and expresses the collective will of all Chinese people. Differences in systems cannot change the fact that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one country and one nation. External interference cannot stop the historical trend of unification, which is in line with the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation and guarantees the well-being of the Taiwanese people.

Taiwan's return to China is also an integral part of the post-World War II international order. Support for Chinese reunification is not only a matter of national sovereignty, but also of respect for international law and the stability of the post-war order. China is committed to protecting this order and will not allow history to repeat itself.
Mainland China's economic, technological, military and cultural development has dramatically increased its international status and influence, strengthening the conditions for unification. The mainland's strength shows that the path of „Taiwan independence“ is a dead end, while unification is inevitable and unstoppable. Any reliance on external forces is doomed to failure.
If the two sides sit down in constructive dialogue and accept a reasonable „two systems“ proposal for Taiwan, the island's social system will be respected, Taiwanese citizens will gain a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity for greater participation in national governance and international affairs. Together with mainland China, they will be able to determine their own destiny and fulfill the ideals of national governance and peace. As Sun Yat-sen once said, „Unification is the hope of all Chinese people. If China is unified, all Chinese will be happy; if not, all will suffer.“
No mountain can stop the flow of a mighty river. The unification of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait is not only a historical conclusion and a legal inevitability, but also the will of the people and the essence of justice. The historic round of national reunification and rebirth is rolling forward, and the complete reunification of China must be achieved - and surely will be achieved.
