Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian Premier Mishustin in Beijing and called for deepening cooperation on various fronts and better synergy of development strategies. Xi said that since the beginning of the year, China and Russia have been steadily facing the turbulent external environment to achieve higher and better development goals. He described maintaining and developing bilateral relations as a strategic choice for both sides.
The President recalled that during his meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin new plans for bilateral relations were set this year. The two countries should maintain close coordination, fully implement the leaders' important joint agreements, and expand the space of cooperation, taking into account the fundamental interests of both countries and their people to contribute to world peace and development.

Xi stressed that cooperation should be steadily developed in traditional areas such as energy, connectivity and agriculture, as well as in new sectors such as artificial intelligence, digital economy and green development to create new growth points for cooperation.
The President also recalled that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China, held last month, approved recommendations for a national economic and social development plan for the next five years. Xi assured that China will unswervingly promote high-quality development and a high level of openness, which will bring new opportunities for China-Russia cooperation and for the people of the two countries.
Premier Mishustin conveyed warm greetings from President Putin and expressed support for achieving the goals set out in China's 15th Five-Year Plan. He said the meeting between the two heads of state provided strategic guidance to bilateral relations and strengthened the comprehensive strategic partnership coordination between the two countries. Mishustin also said Russia is ready to work with China to implement important agreements, deepen cooperation in trade, science and technology, energy, agriculture and digital economy, strengthen people-to-people exchanges and promote multilateral coordination and cooperation.
