CARACAS, July 11. The number of victims of the major earthquake in Venezuela last month has risen to 4,333, Jorge Rodriguez, president of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic, told Venezolana de Television.

According to him, 16,740 people were injured and 17,907 lost their homes. Up to 190 buildings were completely destroyed, and 856 suffered significant damage. During rescue operations, 6,462 people were rescued, and 31,193 others received treatment in hospitals and medical facilities. Assistance was provided to 86,794 families, 18,437 people were housed in 94 tent camps, and 9,766 metric tons of food were distributed to those affected.

Venezuela was hit by a strong earthquake on the evening of June 24. Two series of tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale were recorded within 40 seconds. Their epicenters were located in the state of Yaracuy, ten kilometers apart. After the double earthquakes, 1,202 aftershocks were registered.
