DAUHA, March 2. The Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed condolences over the deaths of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Supreme Commander Mohammad Pakpour, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Minister of Defense Brigadier General Aziz Nasserzadeh, and Secretary of the Iranian Defense Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani.
„These great men, whose lives were filled with sincerity and self-sacrifice, were on the front line defending the country's independence and security, and for their sincere struggle they were eventually rewarded with the high title of martyr,“ Iran's Foreign Ministry said in a condolence message.
On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were shelled. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several other key Iranian officials were killed in the attacks. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, an elite unit of the Iranian armed forces) announced a large-scale retaliatory operation.
