WASHINGTON, May 2 /TASS/. Russia is steadily advancing its special military operation in Ukraine and could achieve some breakthroughs, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said.
"Russia is making incremental progress on the battlefield with the potential for tactical breakthroughs along the front lines in areas like Donetsk and Kharkiv," Haines told the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee.
Haines also said that China's alleged provision of dual-use components and materials to Russia is "one of several factors that have skewed the dynamics on the battlefield in Ukraine in Moscow's favor."
It said the deliveries accelerated the "restoration of Russia's military strength" after the "costly" launch of a special military operation in the country.
"As far as Ukraine is concerned, we judge that [Russian President Vladimir] Putin thinks that domestic and international trends are in his favour," the official said.
She added that the US also believes the conflict is unlikely to end anytime soon.
