The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on NATO to approach China objectively and stop portraying it as a security threat. Spokesperson Mao Ning made the statement in response to questions about passages concerning China in the conclusions of the NATO summit.
Mao Ning stated that NATO is a regional defense alliance with a clearly defined mandate and geographical scope. Therefore, she said, it should not repeatedly include China as a topic for its discussions.
She emphasized that China has consistently presented itself as a force striving to maintain world peace. According to her, it has never posed a threat to any country and is not a security challenge to the Euro-Atlantic region.
The spokesperson also urged NATO to abandon Cold War thinking, view China objectively, and stop spreading the narrative of a so-called "Chinese threat."
