The SUAS GROUP has launched the largest battery storage facility in the Czech Republic at the Lipnice photovoltaic power plant in Sokolov. The Lipnice BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) has a capacity of 120 megawatt-hours and an installed capacity of 57 megawatts. The project, costing 400 million crowns, was developed in cooperation between SUAS GROUP and the Slovakian group EIF. The storage facility will be used to balance fluctuations in the grid and support the stability of the transmission system in the region, where the Sokolovská uhelná group is undergoing a transformation from coal to renewable energy sources.
J&T Banka has announced its financial results for the first half of 2026. Consolidated net profit reached 3.6 billion crowns, representing a slight year-on-year decrease of 11.4 percent. Total operating income increased by 1.4 percent to 7.3 billion crowns. Assets under management for clients increased significantly — by more than a quarter compared to the end of last year — and are approaching the threshold of 500 billion crowns. The loan portfolio grew by 13.5 percent to 124.2 billion crowns. Since July, Slavomír Beňa has been the new CEO of the bank, replacing Štěpán Ašer after two decades.
Oil prices have risen above $90 per barrel following a worsening outlook for peace in the Middle East. The escalating conflict in the region increases inflationary risks and may also affect fuel and energy prices in the Czech Republic, where the government stopped capping fuel prices on July 20th.
The Prague Stock Exchange weakened slightly yesterday; the PX index is down by 0.22 percent at 2,783.88 points.
