BEIJING - German carmaker Volkswagen and its oldest Chinese partner SAIC Motor plan to close at least one plant in China that makes cars with internal combustion engines, citing weakening demand. SAIC Volkswagen Automobile, a joint venture between the two carmakers, is preparing to close a plant in the city of Nanjing next year that makes Volkswagen Passat and Skoda cars and has an annual capacity of 360,000 vehicles. Bloomberg reported this, citing informed sources.
