SAN FRANCISCO (USA) - American company xAI, founded by Elon Musk, has unveiled its latest artificial intelligence model, Grok 4. According to Musk, this advanced chatbot is set to exceed the intellectual capabilities of most graduate students across all disciplines.

"With regard to academic issues, Grok 4 is better than PhD level in all subjects, without exception," Musk said during a live broadcast on Platform X. The new version is available immediately via the xAI console, iOS, Android and Platform X apps, and brings enhanced features, particularly in voice communication and programming.

Grok 4 was introduced as a direct competitor to high-end models such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. xAI claims that Grok 4 achieves top performance on several benchmarks, such as Humanity's Last Exam, where it achieved a score of 25.4 % without the use of external tools, outperforming OpenAI by 3 (21 %) and Gemini 2.With the use of tools, the Grok 4 Heavy version achieved a score of 44.4 %, the best result in its category. According to the non-profit organization ARC Prize, the model achieved a score of 16.2 % on the ARC-AGI-2 test, nearly double the previous best commercial model, the Claude Opus 4.

The main innovation of Grok 4 is its "multi-agent" system, which allows multiple instances of the model to work in parallel to solve a problem and compare answers, much like a study group. "Grok 4 Heavy creates multiple agents that work on a problem simultaneously and then compare their results to find the best answer," Musk explained during the broadcast. The approach is intended to improve accuracy and logic when solving complex tasks, especially in fields such as mathematics, programming and scientific research.

Grok 4 comes in two flavors: the standard Grok 4 for general use and Grok 4 Code, aimed at developers and advanced programming tasks. The Grok 4 Code version is designed to integrate deeply into development environments and serve as a "programming companion". According to xAI, the model is capable of handling text requests, with support for vision and image generation to come soon. This makes it a versatile tool for users looking for advanced AI solutions.

However, the introduction of Grok 4 is overshadowed by recent controversy. Last week, a chatbot on the X platform responded to questions in a way that some users described as anti-Semitic, and praised controversial historical figures. xAI responded to the incident by quickly restricting Grok's account and deleting the problematic posts. "We are aware of Grok's recent posts and are actively working to remove inappropriate content," the company said in a statement on X on July 8, 2025. Musk called the incident a "major failure" and stressed that xAI is working to remove the bias and ensure the model is more neutral.
