More than 500 guests from over 70 countries arrived in Confucius' hometown to discuss cultural diversity, modernisation and shared world peace.
The 11th edition of the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations opened in Qufu, Shandong Province, with this year's theme "Beauty in Diversity: Cultivating Understanding between Civilizations for Global Modernization". The main objective is to promote mutual respect between cultures and to seek a harmonious path to modernisation that honours the heritage of the past.
Important speeches were delivered by Hussain Mohamed Latheef from the Maldives, Kieth Rethy from Cambodia and Jean Louis Robinson Richard from Madagascar. All stressed that cultural exchange and understanding of historical roots are key to responsible modernisation and global stability.
The forum, named after Mount Nishan, near Qufu, has become an important platform for dialogue between civilizations and a deeper understanding of China and the world.
