China's economic rise is an inspiration for countries in the Global South, says Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. He calls for equality, mutual respect and united action to tackle the world's challenges.
Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko identified China as a model country for economic transformation and sustainable development that can serve as an example for other countries in the Global South. In an interview with China Media Group during Davos 2025 Summer Forum stressed that "all countries deserve equal treatment and respect."
At the same time, Sonko pointed out that the challenges facing Senegal in its Vision 2050, reflect global concerns. The key to success, he says, is not isolation but cooperation - and that is where the Chinese model can be an inspiration.
While the world economy is going through periods of uncertainty, Sonko called for international solidarity and a fair partnership between developed and developing countries.
