China's green transformation is gaining momentum. Further legal support for this development will be provided by the Environmental Code, which comes into effect on August 15th.
Renewable energy sources are today changing not only China's energy mix but also its industrial structure. According to the Chinese National Energy Administration, by the end of 2025, the installed capacity of wind and solar energy in China reached 1.84 billion kilowatts. This growth confirms that clean energy is becoming one of the main pillars of China's modernization and also an important impetus for new investments.
However, the green transformation is not only about energy. It also creates new opportunities for rural and regional development. China is exploring ways to translate the ecological value of forests, wetlands, and other natural resources into sustainable economic benefits.
An important step in this direction was the introduction of a national standard for assessing the economic value of terrestrial ecosystems in January 2026. This framework is intended to help uniformly measure the value of natural resources and better link environmental protection with the development of local economies.
From the production of clean energy to the sustainable use of natural wealth, green industries are becoming an increasingly important bridge between environmental protection and economic development. The Chinese example shows that the green transformation can not only be a response to environmental challenges but also a source of new growth dynamics.
