ISLAMABAD/BEIJING - The Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, described his recent visit to China as a tremendous success, emphasizing the deepening strategic relationship between Pakistan and China, which this time extends beyond the borders of Earth and reaches into space.
In an interview with Shen Shiwei, an experienced journalist from CGTN Digital, Minister Iqbal eloquently stated: "Previously, we said that the friendship between Pakistan and China is higher than the Himalayas. But with this cooperation in the field of space, we can confidently say that the cooperation between Pakistan and China is higher than the sky."
The minister's visit, which concluded on August 4th, included high-level meetings with Chinese officials and visits to key institutions involved in space research, digital innovation, and development cooperation.His remarks came shortly after he witnessed the successful launch of the Pakistan Remote Sensing Satellite (PRSS-1) from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province on July 31st. The launch of this satellite represents a significant milestone in Pakistan's technological cooperation with China and demonstrates Islamabad's growing commitment to developing its capabilities in remote sensing, satellite imagery, and space sciences.
Ahsan Iqbal praised China's unwavering support in helping Pakistan achieve self-sufficiency in advanced technologies, and he described the PRSS-1 mission as a "symbol of mutual trust, shared aspirations, and visionary partnership." He added that space cooperation will play a crucial role in Pakistan's disaster management, urban planning, agriculture, and national security.
