On July 10th, Beijing time, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) granted the Lao People's Democratic Republic the status of a dialogue partner. The official ceremony will be held in Beijing. Representatives from the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the SCO Secretary-General, and others will attend the event.

At last year's SCO forum in Tianjin, the heads of state of the member countries unanimously agreed to accept Laos as a dialogue partner. Currently, the SCO has 10 official member states, 2 observer states, and 15 dialogue partners, including Laos.
