The President of Myanmar, Min Aung Hlaing, in an interview with China Media Group during his recent visit to Beijing, expressed hope that this trip would strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries and promote partnerships in various areas.
Min Aung Hlaing welcomed investments from Chinese companies and emphasized that both sides would further expand trade cooperation. He also stated that China and Myanmar would work together to ensure security and stability along their shared border.
As neighboring countries with a long shared border, China and Myanmar have already agreed to build a community with a shared future, said the Myanmar president. He also expressed support for Xi Jinping's vision focused on global peace and prosperity. He added that China's extensive development is, in his opinion, the result of strong state leadership.
In the area of economic relations, the Myanmar leader identified infrastructure as a key sector. According to him, both countries plan to expand partnerships in areas such as technology, space exploration, agriculture, and industry to support mutual trade.
Myanmar is actively involved in the global "Belt and Road" initiative, and the joint economic corridor is one of the main projects within this framework. According to Min Aung Hlaing, its construction is beneficial for both the development of Myanmar and for connecting the country with China and the global market. Finally, he positively evaluated Xi Jinping's four global initiatives and reaffirmed Myanmar's support for the principle of one China.
