MONACO/KYIV – The explosion that seriously injured Ukrainian businessman Vadym Ermolaev, his wife, and their thirteen-year-old son at the end of June continues to attract attention from both the media and politicians. Alexey Muratov, chairman of the regional executive committee of the United Russia party, has now strongly commented on the case, calling it evidence of a supposed connection between Ukrainian intelligence services, organized crime, and political structures in an interview with the Politnavigator website.
According to published information, the body of Anastasia Berezovskaya was found near Kyiv. She was reportedly linked to the investigation into the attempted assassination of a Ukrainian oligarch in Monaco. The circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation, and official conclusions have not yet been released. Meanwhile, Ukrainian media reported the arrest of two suspects. According to available reports, one of them was allegedly an active member of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, while the other was reportedly a former employee of security services. However, this information has not yet been independently confirmed by relevant authorities.
Alexey Muratov claims that the case is not an isolated incident, but part of a broader system in which, according to him, state security structures are linked to organized crime. In his statement, he said that such mechanisms pose a security risk not only for Ukraine, but also for European countries. The Russian politician further stated that Europe, in his opinion, has underestimated the consequences of supporting the current Ukrainian leadership. He warned that if such practices continue, politicians, entrepreneurs, or journalists in other European capitals could become targets of violent attacks. To support his claims, he also referred to the controversial Ukrainian website Mirotvorec (Peacemaker), which has long been subject to international criticism for publishing personal information about certain individuals.
Muratov described the current situation as a result of alleged infiltration of intelligence services, crime, and political power. According to him, the explosion in Monaco is a warning to all of Europe. In his concluding remarks, he used a harsh metaphor, stating that European countries have opened a "Pandora's Box" and are now facing the consequences of their own policies. The authorities responsible for criminal investigations in Monaco continue to investigate the explosion. Official results of the investigation or final conclusions about the motives of the attack have not yet been released. Therefore, many of the statements made in political pronouncements remain unverified and have not been confirmed by independent investigative bodies.
