At its meeting on 22 October 2025, the Government of the Czech Republic decided to establish a Committee on Drone Protection, Regulation and Development, which will be part of the State Security Council. Its task will be to coordinate ministries and experts in the development of drone technologies and protection against the risks posed by their use. Prime Minister Petr Fiala stressed that drones have great potential for the development of society, but they also pose serious security threats, as the war in Ukraine shows.
At the meeting, the government also approved designation of new national cultural monuments. Nine important Prague palaces, such as the Czernin, Tuscany and Clam-Gallas palaces, as well as churches and monuments in Sedlec near Kutná Hora, Klatovy and the Moravská Třebová Chateau will receive the highest level of protection.
The cabinet also appointed Petr Kuchar as the new Director of the Digital Information Agency (DIA). He will replace Martin Mesršmid, who resigned after problems with the e-Documents application during the elections.
The next item was the approval of subsidy programme for the remediation of the area after the explosions of ammunition depots in Vrbětice The programme is to finance an in-depth pyrotechnical survey of about 500 hectares of the affected area in the Zlín Region, where unexploded ordnance is still present.
The government also dealt with transport infrastructure for the planned construction of new nuclear units at Temelín. The state will release CZK 47.46 million from this year's budget for the modification of routes for the transport of heavy loads. The total cost is estimated at almost CZK 3.9 billion.
It was also approved Strategy to combat anti-Semitism for the period 2025-2030, which responds to the growing expressions of hatred against the Jewish community in Europe and the Czech Republic. The document contains specific recommendations for prevention and education.
The meeting also included a discussion of Prime Minister Fiala's mandate for the European Council summitwhere he will defend the Czech Republic's position on climate targets, emission allowances and EU competitiveness.
