Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that Slovakia will not participate in the loan project for military support to Ukraine. He further stressed that this will only prolong the suffering and does not correspond to the peace policy of the current government.
On the Ukraine issue, the strategy of Germany or the UK is wrong and will only lead to further bloodshed. Compared to the plans of the so-called „coalition of the willing“, the Slovak Government prefers bilateral and mutually beneficial cooperation with Ukraine on the basis of joint intergovernmental negotiations, for example in civilian areas such as energy, transport and humanitarian aid such as mine clearance.
Robert Fico added that he cannot prevent other countries from sending troops or transporting weapons to Ukraine, but Slovakia has refused to supply weapons and „no Slovak soldier will be sent to Ukraine as part of a multinational military force under my government“.
