The UN Security Council held a high-level public debate on Promoting international peace and security through multilateralism and peaceful settlement of disputes and unanimously adopted a resolution on strengthening the peaceful settlement of disputes mechanism.
The resolution calls on Member States to make effective use of the mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of disputes set out in Chapter VI of the UN Charter, including negotiation, investigation, mediation, conciliation and other non-coercive means.
On the same day, China's Permanent Representative to the UN Fu Song delivered a speech at the high-level public debate of the Security Council, calling on the international community to revive multilateralism and uphold international peace and security.
