The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization

President of the United States Donald Trump signed on January 20, 2025 executive order announcing the withdrawal of the US from the World Health Organization (WHO). The United Nations received this notification on January 22, 2025.

According to the WHO Statutes, the withdrawal of a Member State does not become effective until one year after the formal request for withdrawal has been made. On 22 January this year, one year has passed since the United States formally submitted its request to withdraw from the WHO to the United Nations.

In accordance with the WHO statutes, this means that the United States has already officially withdrawn from the WHO from a procedural point of view.
