Ondřej Dostál, Member of the European Parliament for STAČILO!, in a greeting sent to the debate meeting organized by the portal iportaL24.cz under the auspices of the Czech-Chinese Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that relations between Europe and China should not be based on rivalry, but on friendship, peace and partnership. He said this approach was important for achieving shared prosperity and better understanding between the two sides.

Dostál recalled that in the European Parliament, some EU representatives have expressed the opinion that China is Europe's strategic rival. However, he disagrees with this view. „But we are convinced that rivalry is not appropriate,“ he said. Instead, he said, it makes more sense to look for ways to cooperate and mutually benefit each other.

In his opinion, the role of business and working meetings is particularly important, as they can help both Czech and Chinese entrepreneurs to better exploit their mutual advantages. „In order to achieve common prosperity, it is important to look for ways to position Czech products on the Chinese market,“ He said. At the same time, he highlighted the possibility of using Chinese innovations in the Czech Republic and in third countries where partners can cooperate and invest together.

Dostál also stressed that the Czech Republic, despite its size, has a lot to offer. According to him, its advantage is the talent of its people and the ability to come up with ideas that can find wider application in the large Chinese market. „But the big Chinese market can be a great place to spread those ideas to a consumer base of nearly half a billion,“ uvedl.

He concluded by expressing his wish that the debate would contribute to a better understanding and further development of relations. „To achieve peace and prosperity, it is important to learn to speak a common language,“ dodal.
