BRUSSELS - The European Union's perceived helplessness on the international stage has sparked a rise in Euro-patriotism among young people in member states, according to a report by Politico.

The newspaper reported that social media platforms have been "flooded" in the past two years with posts depicting the European Union as a "pan-European empire, a European federation, or the United States of Europe," which have collectively garnered billions of views across various social networks. "Welcome to the wild world of pro-European online propaganda, where the EU is not a fractious club of 27 countries, but a powerful superpower comparable to China or the United States—only wiser and more cultured," Politico wrote.

According to the publication, young Europeans feel powerless in the face of attacks on the EU by the American leader Donald Trump, events in Ukraine, and the confrontation between China and the United States. "People are trying to escape this feeling of powerlessness, to regain the ability to act and to have sovereignty, and to have the possibility to influence things," the newspaper quoted Christelle Savall, former president of the Association of Young European Federalists.

Among the profiles that spread such content online are accounts with names like *European propagandist* or *Ave Europa*. Journalists from Politico spoke with 11 administrators of these pages, all of whom were under 35 years old. According to the newspaper, their political views range from left-wing to far-right.

Support for the EU among Europeans has reached a historic high in surveys, according to Politico. According to the results of the 2025 Eurobarometer survey, the number of Europeans who support deeper European integration in the areas of security and defense is increasing. Data from another study also show that 69% of Germans are in favor of creating an EU army.
