1. General Information

This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile application “GNEWS Reader” (the “App”), operated and provided by Česká mediální kancelář z. s (Czech Media Agency) (“we”, “us”, “our”). The App is a free, non-commercial, ad-free news reading application that displays news content published on our website https://gnews.cz/ and provides a secure web search function operated exclusively on our own servers.

This policy is made publicly available in compliance with the Google Play Developer Policies, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679, applicable European Union and European Economic Area data protection laws, as well as applicable United States federal and state privacy laws, including but not limited to the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

3. Data Collection and Processing

We hereby explicitly state that the App does not collect, process, store, log, or transmit any personal data or personal information of its users.

The categories of data we do NOT collect include, but are not limited to:

  • Personal identifiers (name, email address, telephone number, postal address, contact details)
  • Device identifiers (IMEI, Android ID, AAID, MAC address, serial number)
  • Location data (precise or approximate geolocation)
  • Usage data, browsing history, search history, session logs, or interaction data

All news content is loaded via encrypted HTTPS connections. Search queries processed through our internal servers are not logged, linked to any user or device, or stored in any form. No user activity is monitored, tracked, or recorded.

4. App Permissions

The App does not request or use sensitive device permissions such as access to location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage, or other system features beyond those minimally required to display web content and perform secure search functions. No unnecessary permissions are requested or utilized

5. Third-Party Services

The App contains no third-party software development kits (SDKs), no advertising networks, no analytics tools, no social media integrations, no tracking scripts, and no external services whatsoever.

No data is shared, sold, rented, leased, traded, or disclosed to any third parties, including advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or government authorities, unless required by a binding, lawful court order or applicable law. In such cases, we will limit disclosure to the minimum necessary and challenge overly broad requests where legally permitted.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect the integrity and security of our servers and the limited data processing that occurs. Since we do not collect or store any personal data, there is no user data at risk of unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

In the event of any security incident affecting our systems, we will comply with all applicable notification requirements under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other relevant laws.

7. User Rights Under the GDPR (EEA and UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

8. User Rights Under United States Privacy Law

For users in the United States, including California residents, the following applies under applicable state privacy laws:

• We do not collect personal information.

• We do not sell personal information.

• We do not share personal information with third parties.

• We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

California residents may submit a verifiable consumer request to access or delete personal information. Since we collect no such information, we will confirm the absence of data in our response. We do not discriminate against users for exercising their privacy rights.

The App supports browser and system-level Do Not Track (DNT) signals. As no tracking occurs, DNT settings have no additional effect on user privacy.

9. COPPA Compliance

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us immediately, and we will confirm that no such data exists.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised version with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
