STOCKHOLM, October 10th - The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2024 has been awarded to South Korean author Han Kang, the Nobel Committee announced.
The committee's justification for the decision cited her "intense poetic prose that grapples with historical traumas and reveals the fragility of human life."
"She possesses a unique awareness of the connections between body and soul, between the living and the dead, and through her poetic and experimental style, she has become an innovator in contemporary prose," the committee's statement read.
Han Kang was born on November 27, 1970. She is best known for her novel *The Vegetarian*, for which she won the Man Booker International Prize in 2016, and also for the novel *Human Acts*.
