The government of Andrej Babiš held a review meeting at Kramář Villa to assess the first six months of its term. The Prime Minister invited members of the cabinet to jointly evaluate the implementation of the program statement. He had promised this ongoing assessment to the public even before the parliamentary elections.
The discussions began early in the morning with a meeting between the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Alena Schillerová. Throughout the day, other ministers presented overviews of their work to the Prime Minister. The last to present his assessment was the Minister for Sport, Prevention and Health, Boris Šťastný.
At the final press conference, Babiš praised the work of the entire cabinet. He stated that he was serving as the Prime Minister of a majority coalition government for the first time, and thanked his colleagues for their dedication. "We are all working hard to fulfill what we promised to the people," he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the government is now focusing primarily on tasks until the end of September, when it must submit a draft state budget. He described this as one of the most important priorities for the coming months.
According to Babiš, the cabinet is fulfilling the main points of the program. He cited low inflation, reduced energy prices, stabilization of fuel prices, preparations for a new migration law, and measures in the housing sector as important achievements.
The Prime Minister also addressed European affairs. He recalled that the Czech Republic will participate in the November summit of the European Council to discuss the future budget of the European Union for the years 2028-2034. According to him, the government is also promoting specific proposals to reduce the prices of emission allowances under ETS I and addressing the ETS II system.
Babiš also mentioned the NATO summit in Ankara, where the Czech delegation discussed defense spending. He stated that the government has declared its intention to meet its commitment to allocate two percent of GDP to defense next year.
